Mount Alvernia High School is a private, college preparatory Catholic high school for young women in grades 7-12. We adhere to the nondiscrimination policy of the Department of Education of the Archdiocese of Boston: Non-public schools of the Archdiocese of Boston admit students of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, and ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and in the hiring of school personnel. Admission to Mount Alvernia High School is determined by the following criteria:
A holistic approach is used in admissions decisions. No one aspect of a student's credentials is more important than another. The application, student essay, parents' expectations, elementary or middle school recommendations, school transcript, entrance examination, and interview are all of major importance in determining a candidate's potential for success at Mount Alvernia High School. This approach yields a student body that not only crosses socioeconomic and demographic lines but also provides a broad range of academic ability and promise. |
